PUBLIC SPACE CASE STUDY

Problem: transform a public park into an outdoor classroom capable of extending the museum’s mission in a way is fully accessible on schedule and on budget.

Solution: Collab lead the owner through the design, permitting and bidding process to ensure the project complied with accessibility guidelines and could be constructed within budget and on schedule.

This outdoor classroom transformed an existing park into a learning landscape that encourages children to explore nature, art and music through play. Sometimes this means getting dirty.

The music stand features a large pergola that frames performers and provides shade for the stage area. The project was designed to be universally accessible with special consideration of material selection and construction methods. This design approach minimizes lifetime maintenance costs meeting ADA accessibility guidelines and ensuring to community a rich and stimulating public space for years.
